David Cox
Ph.D., C.S.E., and Principal
David is an ecologist expert in environmental resource assessment and planning for conservation, sustainable development, and education. David creates innovative science-based solutions for preservation, conservation and improvement of natural resources. The main purpose of his recent projects is to help individuals, organizations, and communities in Florida protect, restore, and sustain premiere natural and cultural assets.
David served for many years on the Planning and Zoning Commission of Indian River County, Florida, and has extensive experience integrating science-based amendments into local land use ordinances, state comprehensive plans, and state environmental rule-making. He has successfully guided many clients through the labyrinths of state, federal, and local environmental permitting for large and small residential and commercial projects. Currently he serves as an elected Supervisor of the Indian River Soil and Water Conservation District, a Director on the Board of Audubon Florida, and as a member of several non-profit boards and advisor to public and private organizations. He has prior experience as an academic ecologist, with numerous peer-reviewed publications, and has held faculty positions at Washington University, Vassar College, Mt. Desert Island Biological Laboratory, University of Delaware College of Marine Studies, University of Oregon, and Florida Institute of Technology.

Chris Pinson
Principal
Chris is a Florida native who brings a lifetime of experience along the Indian River Lagoon. His insights inform all our planning, construction, and environmental restoration projects. Chris has deep knowledge of how to build sustainably while protecting precious land and water resources. He is also a Florida Licensed General Contractor and a Coast Guard Licensed Captain.

Maegan Wettlaufer
Environmental Geoscientist
Maegan is an Environmental Geoscientist with a focus on water resource conservation and GIS applications. Prior to working for Cox Pinson Environmental, Maegan served Americorps for 10 months in their Excelsior Conservation Corps, worked with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in efforts to map and improve their outdoor recreation infrastructure, and provided ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) clients with effective solutions as an ArcGIS Online Technical Analyst. Maegan welcomes helping all of our clients with their Environmental Resource Permitting using her data driven approach. Outside of work, Maegan has a passion for foreign languages and offshore fishing.

Mark Lafurno

Mark has over a decade of wide-ranging experience in environmental consulting. Originally from Long Island, Mark grew up with a passion and commitment to protecting nature, and has followed this path ever since. Prior to working with Cox Pinson Environmental, Mark worked for multiple agencies and large environmental consulting firms leading complex environmental assessments and wildlife surveys with a focus on endangered species protection, and wetland and water resource conservation. Mark’s experience ranges from multi-state infrastructure projects to planned unit developments and single-family residences. Outside of work, Mark loves biking, hiking, and exploring nature wherever he finds it.
